Frequently asked questions
The total cost of a live scan depends on the “Request for Live Scan Service” form and the associated government fees, also known as the “level of service.” Generally, government fees include $32 for DOJ and $17 for FBI. Some forms may also have additional government fees. Our service fee will be added to these fees, but you’ll always know the full cost upfront.
After we submit the live scan to the government, the processing time depends entirely on the government agencies. Once they complete their part, they send the results directly to the requesting agency. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time frame, as the government processes requests at their own pace.
Generally, the results are sent directly to the requesting agency listed on your “Request for Live Scan Service” form. The agency is not obligated to share the results with you. However, if you need a live scan for personal use, there is a separate service available. Let us know and we’d be happy to assist you.
If you don’t have a live scan form, you’ll need to contact the agency (employer or organization) requesting the background check to provide one for you. Our office does not stock every live scan form, as we can only provide non-employer/organization-specific forms.
No, you cannot use a previous set of fingerprints for a different purpose. Each fingerprint submission is processed through a specific agency and tied to a particular request. If another agency requires a background check, new fingerprints must be submitted, regardless of how recent the previous set was completed.
