Why Do I Need Fingerprinting?

Whether you are starting a new job, volunteering, applying for a professional license or permit, foreign travel/residency, immigration, etc., a background check is often required as part of the process. As a result, fingerprinting will likely be one of the requirements in order to run background check. The reason for the fingerprints will not only determine which governing agency (DOJ and/or FBI) criminal database your fingerprints will be ran against, but also the method of fingerprinting, live scan or ink card. In general, live scans or valid for in-state background checks, whereas ink card fingerprinting is valid across the entire U.S.

What Do I Need To Bring?

For live scan fingerprinting, you need to bring a government issued ID and your “Request for Live Scan Service” form. This form should be provided to you from either your employer or the agency requesting the background check. Our office may be able to provide with you the necessary form as our office only supplies the more commonly used ones.

For the ink card fingerprinting, if the ink cards are already provided to you, simply bring them in along with a government issued ID. We provide ink fingerprinting on forms FD-258, SF-87, any state specific card, or country specific card/document. For your convenience, our office stocks the blue and white FBI FD 258 ink fingerprint cards.
